Two years on – Prince Emeka Obasi: a Memorial.
The WORD declares “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” (Rev.14:13).
Indeed Prince Emeka Obasi’s works still speak today and will forever speak.
A loving husband and father; a kind and generous giver; always willing to help others even before they ask; highly cerebral and intuitive; excellent coach and encourager; incredibly honest and truthful in every way; looking out for the best in others and in his environment. A Blessed man and son of the Most High God. A lover of Nigeria and an unrepentant defender of the rights of the marginalized.
Who can forget his earnest and endearing attitude to others? He was a blessing to all who came across him. You wouldn’t know, but he did something in our church which only those who have truly submitted their lives to God will do. Despite his health challenge, he lived joyfully to please God and to be a blessing to others. Can we count the lunches, dinners and special celebrations he arranged and funded to bless and bring joy and happiness to associates and friends within and outside the church?
A beautiful soul: a rarity today in this age of self-centeredness & inordinate “me” preservation.
He was a man of faith. He had strong faith in God and His ability to heal and provide succour. He was never afraid of the worst case scenario as I saw it. He lived for Christ and for others.
Some 2 years before he went to be with the Lord, he paid into an escrow account the total amount that will be required to put an indigent undergraduate through university for a 4-year programme. He didn’t inform me or announce it to anyone. He asked my wife to open and administer the account. That student will be graduating and getting her BSc in Pharmacology this summer, 2024. Though transited to glory, yet his works are still impacting lives even today! How can such a man be forgotten.
Severally, he in his gentle voice but in an assertive manner prompted me time and time again to write a book, assuring me that he will help to publish it. He would say; Pastor write a book: you can do it. Those words keep ringing in my head till now and I have started something in that direction.
How can such a man, a visionary, an educator, an administrator, a journalist’s journalist be forgotten?
His passion and sincere interest in lifting others up has made him an enigma that will always be remembered for the good works he did. According to Rev. 14:13 – “… blessed are the dead who die in the Lord ……that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them”.
May you and your children be blessed, and surely they will be greater than their Dad in Jesus’ name.
I pray that God will reveal His greatness in every area of your life. He will show Himself strong on your behalf, part the red sea, level the mountains, exalt the valley, and straighten the crooked paths in the name of JESUS.
I pray that God will continue to care for you and carry you, your beloved children & family on eagles’ wings, flying over mountains and all hindrances on your paths in Jesus’ name.
Please stay blessed in Jesus Christ’s Love, Goodness, Mercy and in His incredible Power to Save.
Shalom!!
Always with highest regards,
