TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED BROTHER, PRINCE EMEKA OBASI
A great thing has happened to me that I can not cry. A thing so great that sleepless nights have become inevitable. A blessed man has passed on. the great Igbo Prince, the voice of the voiceless, a compassionate man and a great philanthropist. A man of great style, class and elegance.
Where was our grandfathers, great-grandfathers, the Obasi”s and the Onyenganga’s. Why do you people idle away in your final resting places and allow evil triumph over good? Why do you people allow this rare gift to slip off our fingers?
PRINCE EMEKA OBASI, EZENWATA of Ibeku ancient kingdom, your death has left an indelible vacuum not only in my life but to humanity at large, which neither time nor event can fll.You were many things rolled into one for me. A beloved brother, father, mentor, guardian and counselor. Who will call me “The Honorable, The honourable” again?
Who will ever again detect the worries in my voice? And who indeed will stand by me at all times and in all things?. And even the widows you look out for I have always known that death is inevitable, but little did I know that it was going to be this soon and sudden.
Our conversations were daily and the valuable teachings therein. On your 58-birthday celebration. I sent you a heart felt goodwill message, which you said deeply touched you. That message was one of our last messages, which I will have to share here, to further drive home my sincere appreciation of your personality.
“Boss, on a day like this, one cannot forget to wish you a happy birthday, especially in appreciation of the numerous positive things you fought for and stood for. You are indeed a good man with a golden heart, touching Lifes and positioning people’s problem far above yours, even in the face of personal challenges. Your deep love for humanity is immeasurable and can only be rewarded by eternity.
Wishing you many more years of grace, sound health, enduring happiness and heaven at last. Age in
wisdom and prosperity the peoples Boss.”
