TRIBUTE TO MY PUBLISHER
It is hard to believe that Prince Emeka Obasi (Publisher) has gone to be with the Lord.
The first time I had a close encounter with Publisher was in January 2015, though I had worked with him in Mirror Newspaper in 2008. I discovered that he has respect for intelligent and hardworking people. He can’t stand the lazy and ignorant.
Another thing I respect him for was that he always acknowledge superior arguments irrespective of the age, sex, and social status of the arguer.
You cannot be with Publisher without learning something new. The depth of his insight on issues was mind boggling. Publisher was someone who believed in giving people opportunities. I had no fnancial background when he gave me the opportunity to man the money market desk of Hallmark Newspaper. Even when I resigned from the organization, he was still calling on me to make contributions.
Prince Obasi held God in high esteem. Whenever we were discussing and one involved God, he will always
say that person wanted to end the discussion, because once God is involved in an issue, it is not debatable. He
was a strong believer in the God-factor.
Publisher empathized a lot whenever anybody close to him was going any challenge. I remember one time when I was sick, he was always calling me to fnd out how I was doing.
One of his lines that I always remember is, “Ignorance is sweet bliss.” Prince Emeka Obasi will be greatly missed in the Nigerian media space for a long time. May his soul fnd repose in the Lord, Jesus Christ. And
may God console the entire Obasi and Business Hallmark families.
Publisher, rest in the Lord till the morrow when we meet and part no more.
